Based on a novella by E. L. Doctorow, this film is about the troubled life of young Jolene, from age 16 to 25. We see her go through 3 marriages and many love affairs, both straight and gay, through a string of meaningless jobs, including prostitution, and we watch as she discovers the artist in herself. In the end she puts down her life story in a graphic novel
